FREE Community YIN Class
- Honouring Beverly Crawford McDonald

In honour of the late Beverley Ann Crawford McDonald, Shannon would like to offer a FREE community Yin class. Bev spend a lot of her time volunteering and giving back to the community and on the celebrated anniversary of her passing, Shannon would like to give back in her honour.

This class will be open to everyone as all of the postures will be grounded and easily modified to accomodate everyones bodies.
If you are not familiar with the YIN practise, think of it as a nice long passive stretch class where you have a lot of time to BE.

Although this is a FREE class, if you happen to book in and then can't come, please cancel straight away so someone else can come along. If you have to cancel within 24hr of the class, please message us on the web so we can slide someone else in.

Dates: November 3rd.

By understanding functional anatomy, and the philosophy of Yin yoga along with the meridian lines, five elements and basic acupressure points we will learn myofascial tension release techniques. You will unlock a new way of instructing, that respects the abilities and limitations of your students and keeps you teaching in a harmonious way.

You need to attend all the sessions, completing all theory and one practice teaching session to receive a certification of completion. This 60-hour training can be counted as your CPD (continued professional development). However, if you do not have 200 hours yoga teacher certification, you wouldn’t be able to teach the public with just this qualification.

(Practical assessment will be held at Tranquil Yoga Mackay by hosting one of our regular classes)

  • ASHLEY SUN LLEWELLYN
    Yin, Hatha and Restorative Instructor

I have practiced yoga since my early twenties while working as a dance teacher in my homeland, Taiwan. My passion for yoga grew so strong that I decided to become a Yoga Teacher.

To pursue this dream, I moved to Australia and completed a two-year, full-time study of Hatha Yoga under Shanti Gowen on the Gold Coast. I feel blessed to have studied under her, as she imparted invaluable principles and values upon me.

After my studies, I moved to Mackay to join my now-husband. Over the past five years, I have taught various styles of yoga at multiple studios and continuously expanded my training. This journey has deepened my love for Yin and Restorative Yoga.

Aligned with Tranquil Yoga’s mission, I am committed to ongoing education and will further my knowledge and skills under the mentorship of Jo Phee, Sarah Powers, Leslie Kaminoff, and Judith Lasater, benefiting all who are part of our studio community.

I truly believe in the healing powers of yoga for both mind and body. My mission is to create a welcoming community that fosters happy, healthy relationships with my students, enhancing their well-being both inside and outside the studio.
